Song: Shooting Scars

with 5 comments

Went through my old laptop looking for songs to salvage and I found one. Recorded it back in the garage in Austin.

MP3: Shooting Scars.

We’re tight
Tonight
Our trails are burning bright

Can’t get it right
Every time I find you it seems

Thought you were a shooting star, but no
You’re just another scar in a sky gone black

Mistook
Misery
For your sympathy

You’re just like me
Fucked up and I don’t that ’cause

Thought you were a shooting star, but no
You’re just another scar in a sky gone black

Drums: Brent. Guitar, vocals: me.

Not one of my more uplifting pieces, but it’s resonating with me lately.

  1. Didn’t think that Low-End Twang was an achieveable sound until i heard this. You’re right this is very much darker than some of your other stuff. I always like listening to your stuff though cause you approach the assemblage, packaging, and chronological sequences are so different than my own. And your marriages of the complimentary parts at your disposal is a total different set. Like peeking in your girlfriends purse or something. “Now what do you use this aplicator for…you put it where?!!”

  2. Surprising things one may find in a girlfriend’s purse:

extension cord (cut off at one end)

a full deck of cards which is normal in every regard except for the hearts, which are black instead of red

a shrunken head (might be a fake but hard to tell)

twelve empty lighters and one full one (the “lucky” one), all otherwise identical

a postcard from Argentina (stamped, a breakup message in her handwriting but the recipient’s name and to: address have not been filled out)

a polaroid of you and her as five year olds holding hands at the beach, even though you’re pretty sure you first met her two months ago

a compact whose lighted mirror shows you what you really look like through the eyes of whoever is holding it up for you (most people don’t even realize it when they own this particular model since they always hold it up for themselves)

    propecia

  3. Hey bro, that’s a real downer. I used to feel like that a lot. Once I got wired into the PUA scene it all changed for me (seriously).

Lance Mason has a seminar out in SF July 25th. Check it out:
